Mesh tarps are one of the most common tarping materials and can be found on nearly every style of tarp system. Mesh tarps are preferred by dump truck operators because of their durability and reliability. These tarps come in different weights and weaves along with additional UV protection when required.  Mesh tarps are flexible in a variety of weather conditions and with correct operation, they can withstand years of daily use.

Mesh tarps are often found on arm-style systems and cable tarp systems. Arm-style tarp systems are versatile and designed for most standard dump trucks. Cable tarp systems are ideal for transfer trucks with pups, end dumps and belly dumps hauling material such as sand, gravel or other aggregates and asphalt.

Determining which tarp is best for your dump truck is essential because it will be directly responsible for your load’s security. You’ll need to consider aspects such as what you’re hauling, necessary airflow, and any weight considerations. We have a full article on various mesh tarp considerations that should factor into your decision. In this article, we’ll explore three types of mesh and how they are used for hauling different load types.

Common Mesh Tarps and Their Applications

Within the broad category of mesh tarps, there are several types that offer different fabric weights and weaves. A heavier fabric along with more threads per strand will create a more durable tarp.

Outfitting your tarp system with the right mesh tarp will ensure easy operation time and time again.  The proper tarp for your hauling needs can mean the difference between a successfully deliverable load, or a major liability so be sure to explore all your options and contact the manufacturer with any questions.

Premium Mesh Truck Tarps

Roll-Rite’s Premium Mesh Tarp is a step above most standard industry mesh tarps. It’s specifically designed for use on dump trucks and dump truck trailers. These tarps fit most standard electric tarp systems including the TarpMaster® Series.

Woven from polyethylene fibers that are coated with PVC resin, these tarps are ideal for hauling aggregate such as stone, gravel and sand. The 7.5 x 5 weave contains fine particles yet breathes enough to minimize flapping.

Super Tough Mesh Truck Tarps

Our Super Tough Mesh Tarp is the 'go-to' tarp for metal recyclers and demolition professionals. The body of the tarp is not bound together, giving the material the ability to flex and move as the tarp rolls over the load, reducing the chance of rips or snags. This mesh is ideal for hauling wood chips, solid waste, and other demanding debris.

The 6 x 6 weave contains fine particles yet breathes enough to minimize flapping. This heavy-duty upgrade from our Premium Mesh meets the durability needs of certain load types in more demanding conditions and can be use on our TarpMaster® Series, Super Duty Series and ALC Series.

Heavy Duty Mesh Truck Tarps

This is often referred to as the “heavy weight” in mesh tarps! This mesh is an upgrade from our Premium Mesh that meets the durability needs of certain load types in more demanding conditions. The material is a Premium PVC Coated 6 x 6 weave that’s ideal for scrap and demolition hauling and can be use on our TarpMaster® Series or Super Duty Series.

Choosing a Quality Tarp for your Dump Truck

Mesh tarps are the most versatile tarp in the industry. They provide the best all-around solution for loads that don’t require waterproof or temperature-sensitive protection.
